After that the story transitions again into Candido's life and starts with Candido returning to their previous location where the fire had past by to locate any money remains. When he does not find anything he ponders about him running away from America and his new born child because he believes that they will do better without him. Delaney refuses to believe that the person is Jack Jr and decides to throw away the photographs and go after Candido. The final transition occurs when Candido returns to his 'home'. America remarks that they need to take their child to a doctor soon because the child might be blind. Then, Delanley intervines the discussion and has them at gun point. Out of the blue the flood sends all four peole with the current. When they are able to get Candido is in the side of the post office while America is on the roof.
